Social-Emotional Learning - at school and home
with robin BAcher
What is Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and why is it a “hot topic” right now?
Social-Emotional Learning is about knowing who you are and how you feel. It’s about managing emotions and stress. It’s also about being aware of how others think and feel and how to communicate and build relationships with others as well as how to make decisions and solve problems.
SEL is a better indicator of success than grades!
SEL included in school shows improvements across so many areas!
Social-Emotional Learning has been identified as a key addition to the curriculum and has even recently been added to the Ontario Math Curriculum. Why is social-emotional learning important, how are children with LDs, ADHD and other learning challenges impacted socially and emotionally, and what can parents and educators do to help support social-emotional learning.
